Cycling Bangkok Tours - Starter Pack Bangkok Cycle Tours

Bangkok is a hectic city with a unique buzz, jam-packed with temples, markets, tuk-tuks, and street vendors. Yet, other areas of the city tell a totally different story. After an airport transfer and one night in comfortable, central accommodation, you'll take a tour to the unexplored suburbs on two wheels. Your guide will lead you on your bike through the narrow pathways and khlongs (canals) of Old Bangkok, crossing the river by ferry and leaving the traffic behind. You can sample the fantastic local food during rest stops and enjoy the peace away from the chaos of the city. After your tranquil cycling trip, you'll return to your hotel for a refreshing dip in the pool and a well-earned bowl of noodles.

Day One: Arrival in Bangkok

Today, you'll arrive in Bangkok. A driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your small hotel near the famous Khao San Road, with its own swimming and in-house tuk-tuk. The rest of the day is free for you to explore or relax at your own pace. There are many great sights within walking distance from your hotel, including the Royal Palace and the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po. Alternatively, you can simply take a swim, book a Thai massage, catch up on sleep and let the world go by.

Day Two: Cycling in Bangkok

Today, you'll begin with a buffet breakfast at the hotel and a free morning. This should give you plenty of energy for the trip ahead. You will meet your bicycle tour guide and fellow cyclists in Chinatown at 1pm, and get acquainted with your trusty bike. You'll then cycle through the narrow lanes past simple suburban houses, pausing for a stroll through the local market. The community here is far more typical of Thailand at large. It is a land without air conditioning, shopping centres, and traffic jams. You'll cross the Chao Phraya River in a longtail boat to reach an oasis of green on the opposite bank. On this side, even the most important roads are little more than small paths above the khlongs (canals). Towards the end of your Bangkok bike tour you cycle through the fruit trees and taking a break for refreshments, you'll return to the noisy contrast of the city.

Day Three: Departure from Bangkok

This cycling in Bangkok module finishes after another buffet breakfast in your hotel.

We would suggest that you continue your trip with one of the following modules:
The River and the Railway
The Royal Cities of Ayutthaya with the magically illuminated Khmer temples on a sunset tuk-tuk tour.
Khao Yai jungle trail

Alternatively, you could now choose to travel to up Chiang Mai on the overnight train and set off on a Northern Thailand module.
