Day 1: Chiang Mai - PaiThe morning, you'll be picked up by your guide for the minibus trip to Pai, a beautiful scenic route through the mountains of Northern Thailand. It’s a pretty long drive along winding and at times very bumpy roads so it’s nice to take a break along the way, and there are some fantastic viewpoinnts. At Pong Deuad Hot Springs, you can stretch your legs or paddle your feet in the warm water. Admission is approx $20 - paid locally. You’ll also stop off at the Mork Fah waterfall where, if you’re a true daredevil, you can take a refreshing dip in the (extremely) cool water. You will come across the friendly Hmong tribe who will be happy to show your round their village. Before you continue, you can enjoy a delicious lunch (approx $10). Then, in late afternoon, you'll arrive at the Pai lodge, surrounded by tropical gardens. |

Day 2: PaiEnjoy your breakfast in these peaceful surroundings before heading out to explore the mountains. You’ll be going on a hike through the beautiful countryside which means you’ll visit places you might otherwise not have seen by car; the guide knows the Pai area like the back of his hand and knows where to find the best trails. You can also spend the day relaxing in the resort, located at the edge of a National Park. |
Day 3: Pai - Mae Hong SonToday the drive continues on through the mountains to Mae Hong Son, stopping off at some scenic spots so keep your camera ready! You will also visit the Tham Lot caves (admission $6). After lunch it’s time for your mud bath at a hot spring. You don’t have to of course, but it’s very relaxing. Later that afternoon you’ll meet the Padaung mountain tribe, also known as the ‘long-necks’. The women of the tribe wear brass coils around their necks. Admission to the village is $10 which you can pay locally. Once you’ve freshened up at the hotel your guide will take you on a walk to the Wat Doi Kong Mu, a temple set on top of a mountain. It’s a steep climb but once you reach the top you’re rewarded with a wonderful view across the city. If you like, you could also spend the afternoon relaxing at the resort, located on the edge of the Mae Surin National Park. |

Day 4: Mae Hong Son - End of moduleThis module finishes today after breakfast. It's possible to extend your stay in Mae Hong Son, or travel back to Chiang Mai. For most of our clients we also arrange the short flight over the green mountains from Mae Hong Son back to Chiang Mai, for an extra cost of approx $175 per person. Although you can of course make your own land or flight arrangements. When you land back in Chiang Mai, most travellers choose to stay an extra night in Chiang Mai before continuing their journey. If you now fancy relaxing on a quiet tropical island, we can also arrange a connecting flight from Chiang Mai to Southern Thailand for great beach modules like Relax on Railay or Raya coral island on the south-west coast. Or enjoy the pearly white beaches and beautiful islands and coral reefs of south-east Thailand in module like Daydreaming on Samui or Terrific Turtle island, or our island hopping module. |
